adding an external data source to smart mailer can allow you to harness the power of smart mailer using your existing system for database management. this can be very helpful in managing your contact list(s) because your data will always be as up to date as your external system. to set up and configure an external data source, follow these easy steps: 1. log into the BIS Global' management console at www.bisglobal.net. 2. after logging in, choose smart mailer from the toolkit drop down. 3. next choose configuration from the newsletter management bar. 4. under manage external data source, click new external data source. 5. give your external data source a name so you can recognize it. 6. enter the exact url (web address) for your remote data source. for data source format see knowledge base article 15 . 7. enter the exact url (web address) for your subscription removal script. 8. you can optionally enter the url for a profile update script of you would like this functionality. 9. click add external data source. now you will see your new external data source on the smart mailer configuration page under external data sources. you can also run reports on this data source and send emails to this external data source.
