setting smart mailer contact permissions allows you to control whether or not your contacts can up their profile date and, if they can, which fields they can update. this can be very helpful in managing your contact list(s) because whenever you correspond with your contacts, they will receive a link to update their profile (if this permission is turned on), which will allow them to keep their information up to date so you don't have to. to set up and configure your contact permissions, follow these easy steps: 1. log into the BIS Global' management console at www.bisglobal.net. 2. after logging in, choose smart mailer from the toolkit drop down. 3. next choose configuration from the newsletter management bar. 4. under contact database settings you will see all of the options for your contact permissions. under general settings, there is an option for allow contact profile updating. you must activate this permission in order to allow your contacts to update their profiles. once this permission is activated, every time you send a newsletter, there will be a link at the bottom that says update your profile. this link will allow your contacts to update their own profile. please note that you must publish each newsletter after activating this permission for the settings to take effect. under contact permissions, there are a series of permissions which specify exactly what fields your contacts can update, assuming that you have turned on profile updating.
